Villarreal - Malaga

PICK: Villarreal AH -0,5 @1,813

Match between 6th and 14th placed team in La Liga will be played on El Madrigal and it will start at 12:00 on Sunday.

Villarreal recent form is far from good, as they won only once in last 5 matches in league and that caused them falling on 6th place. They're goal, 4th place and Champions league qualification is still not far, as 4th place is only 6 points above them + having match less. With win they will keep step with Sociedad and Atletico, and with Sansone and Trigueros fully fit, Soriano and Gonzalez back after suspension Yellow submarine will be stronger than last week - even without this 4 important players, they were able to hold goalless draw on Sanchez Pizjuan against strong Sevilla.

Malaga is still having lots of injury concerns. They are still missing Ramirez, En-Nesyri, Recio, Llorente, Carlos, Rica, Kone, Kuzmanović, Weligton, with who this team would look much more competitive. In last round they lost at home against Espanyol, and even if they didn't play that bad, result was just another hit for their confidence.

Villarreal needs a good start of this week when they will meet AS Roma in EL. I don't believe that Fran will rotate because of that, but even if he would, they have some quality players even on bench and they already proved that. With Sansone and Soriano back in team their offensive will be strengthen and at home they simply needs to make a series of good results. After slipping against Valencia (0-2), there is no space for more errors. Malaga is sitting on 14th place and even if they lost 4 of last 5 matches, there is still no bigger reasons for being worried as three teams - Osasuna, Granada and Gijon looks like they already bought tickets for Segunda. It's a harsh call, but they will seriously need to change many things if they want to survive this season. I expected odds around 1,65 as Villarreal is level above Malaga, and they will do everything to get morale boost before the match against Roma on Thursday.

FT: 1-1
