Alaves - Sevilla

PICK: Sevilla AH -0,5 @2,01 PINNACLE 5/10

Today at 20:45 on Estadio de Mendizorozza in Vitoria-Gasteiz, 11th placed Alaves will host 3rd placed Sevilla. As both Real Madrid and Barcelona won their matches, there is another must win match for Andalusians, if they want to stay in the battle for title.

Alaves lost their last match in Granada (2-1) and I believe that they were counting on points in this match. Granada was better opponent, and deserved win. Basque club will miss defender Alexis instead of who Laguardia is coming back after suspension, and midfielder Torres, while Mendez remains to be doubtful. Alaves shown that they are pretty solid team and on Mendizorozza they are playing well, even though they have problems against teams with high pressing. Barcelona won with 6 scored goals here, while for example Atletico Madrid took game little bit easier (different), waiting them on their half, and when Alaves starts match well, they are playing pretty solid for whole 90 minutes.

Sevilla is flying with Sampaoli in charge. After goalless draw against Villarreal on 5th of February, they won 5 matches in a row, beating Betis on derby Sevillano, winning Las Palmas on Canary Islands, winning in first leg of Champions league against Leicester (only with 2-1, even if they could be in much better position), winning tough Bilbao in last home match, and I believe that there is great atmosphere in locker room. Today Samir Nasri is out, but in my opinion - key player of Sampaoli's midfield N'Zonzi is coming back which means that their midfield will be stronger, more compact, which will cause problems to Alaves to create chances. Besides N'Zonzi, also Pareja and Vitolo are back in squad. They arrived to Vitoria on Saturday, which just shows how seriously they took this match.

After match against Alaves, next away matches of Sevilla are against: Leicester, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Malaga and Real Madrid. Losing points here, is not far from allowed. Even if everyone wants to win, I can not skip motivation factor for this match, as I think that it's much more important for Sevilla than for Alaves. They will qualify for Europe league because of being in Copa del Rey finals, and with 14 points more than 18th placed Granada, they can be fearless, they will stay in the league for sure. We'll probably see 3-4-3 from Sampaoli, with Mariano and Escudero as left and right midfielders. It will be interesting who will be in role of Nasri, as his offensive quality are incredible, but as mentioned above I think that for this match if much more important that Sampaoli has N'Zonzi back. It will be interesting to see if Ben Yedder will start from 1st minute or not, as he is one of the strongest figures of Sevilla as it comes to matches against Basque clubs. Vitolo is back in squad as well, so he might get the role on the wing, but fact is that anyone who will play possess bunch of quality, and Alaves will have problems with the way of Sevilla plays, and I think that Andalusians will keep fighting with Barcelona and Real Madrid. Another solid pick for the match is also over 2,5 goals.

Interesting fact is that fans of Alaves reached agreement with club to offer 50% discount on tickets for Sevilla fans, as they are in good relationship.

FT: 1-1
