Nice - Caen

PICK: Nice AH -0,75 @1,95 SBO 6/10

3rd Nice and 14th placed Caen will meet on 10th of March on Allianz Riviera in Nice in 29th round of French Ligue 1.

Nice is still flying high, continuing fight for surprising title with PSG who are 2nd placed only because of better goal difference, while Monaco is 3 points above them with incredible goal difference +57 (Nice +24, PSG +37). Even if their goal difference is not prolific, they are far better team than Caen, there is no doubt about that. Nice fall out of Europa League, Coupe de la Ligue and Coupe de France, so Ligue 1 is actually only competition in which they are playing right now, which means that they can be fully focused on it. On the other hand, other two title contenders - PSG and Monaco are still in Champions league and cups. Unfortunately Plea already finished this season, Donis is injured as well, which means that Balotelli is main striker, while Le Bihan was added from second team. Pereira will be back soon, but not yet. Anyway Nice looked pretty strong in Dijon, where is not easy to play (they've beaten Lyon 4-2, took points to Monaco 1-1). They will miss suspended Belhanda, but Ricardo Pereira is coming back to the squad! Besides him, also Sarr, Donis and Obaddi who missed match against Dijon are back, so soon Plea will be the only important player out.

Caen climbed out of relegation zone with wins against Nancy at home and St. Etienne away, but they were hoping for much more against Angers in last round (lost 2-3). That defeat is even more painful, they've lost important midfielder Delaplace due to injury of adductors and he'll be out for at least 15 days. Good info is that veteran Malbranque came back to training process. With Santini and Rodelin they have solid strikers, but both physical tall strikers, who will have big problems with Dante and Baysee this time. Caen is right now on 14th place, but there are still 10 rounds and as dangerous zone is only 4 points bellow, everything can change really quickly.

After big loss in derby against Monaco (3-0), Nice won 4 of 5 matches and it's true that all of them with just a goal difference, but in my opinion, all those teams, except maybe Lorient, were level above Caen who will come on Allianz Riviera to play with everyone back there, trying to defend for whole match and if there will be an opportunity, then they will try to surprise, but if not, it's not a problem. I am sure, that they won't risk too much. But I think that even with formation of 5 defenders, they won't be able to hold Nice on their pitch. Atmosphere in the city is amazing, fans can feel that European matches are coming on their stadium, in match against Dijon players have shown champion mentality and it's obvious that they believe in success, and that there is amazing relationship between them and the coach Favre, who is always saying that he believes in his guys, and I am sure that they won't let any surprise at home.

FT: 2-2
